About Us
The people behind The Crafty Commute
A small bike shop in Ennis with a straightforward idea: make it easy to swap short car journeys for something better.

Our Story
Most of the journeys we make around Clare are short ones — the school run, the spin into town, the commute to work. Nearly all of them happen by car, and for a lot of families that means running a second car that costs thousands a year to keep on the road.
Electric bikes change that maths. The motor flattens the hills and takes the sting out of an Atlantic headwind, so cycling stops being something you need to be fit for and becomes something you'd actually choose — in normal clothes, without arriving in a heap. Add a cargo bike and the kids, the shopping and the gear come too.
That's why we set up The Crafty Commute: to make the switch simple. The right bike for the way you actually ride, a chance to try it properly before you buy, the Bike to Work paperwork handled for you, and someone local to look after it long after the sale.
What Makes Us Different
Try before you buy
Have a free local demo. Ten minutes on an e-bike tells you more than any spec sheet — and it's the honest way to know if it's right for you.
Bike to Work, made simple
We're registered for the scheme and we'll walk you through the whole thing. Most people save up to 52% on the price of a bike.
We're around afterwards
Servicing, adjustments, a puncture, a question — we're minutes away, not a customer-service queue in another country.
Specialists, not a warehouse
We stock a curated range from Kettler and Raleigh and we ride these bikes ourselves. If something's not right for you, we'll say so.
